Calgary artist McKenna Prather creates detailed paintings of landscapes, plants, and animals using acrylic paint and hand-stitched embroidery on canvas. Inspired by the landscapes of Alberta and Newfoundland, as well as folk art traditions like quilting and needlepoint, her work combines realistic elements with patterns and texture. Prairie Patchwork transforms a prairie landscape into a stitched-together collection of fields, farm buildings, and rural landmarks, celebrating the colours, patterns, and craftsmanship found across the Canadian Prairies.
