Julien Delval is perhaps most well known for his beautiful and exquisitely detailed illustrations that appear on many fantasy book covers for adults and teens. Julien is also a sought-after illustrator for board games, which is how this particular puzzle came to be. Malédiction was originally the cover art for a now out-of-print game by Alea-Ravensburger in Germany. The timely resuscitation of this thematic cover art seemed a perfect fit for a Halloween-themed puzzle.
Whimsies for this puzzle are themed around sorcery, alchemy and creatures associated with Halloween. Clever puzzlers may also find all the necessary "ingredients" to make their own Feature Creature!
More information about Julien Delval can be found at his blog and at the Bureau 21 Gallerie website.

Love Malediction Puzzle
Absolutely love this puzzle. Thank you!
I just got the puzzle and I am very impressed with the box it comes in and the puzzle pieces. I cannot wait to put it together!
Challenging color palette with fabulous whimsies.
I was skeptical of this puzzle because of its monochrome color palette, but it won me over with its fabulous assortment of whimsies and the almost metallic golden tinge to the pieces. The lack of color variation did make for an additional challenge, but I never felt "stuck," though many times I swore a piece didn't exist until it suddenly did. I loved as usual the care to color placement of the whimsies, from the black raven with a yellow beak to the skull and crossbone with eyes. I did this through Hoefnagel, but if I owned it I could see doing it again and again.
This puzzle is so fun! We bust it out every October and love watching it come together. =)
